What are leaps?

Imagine that you go to sleep in your familiar world and when you wake up, that world has completely changed … Wouldn’t it upset you? Crying. Crankiness. You cling to those few people you know and don't ever want to let go. That is exactly what your baby experiences when takes a leap in mental development.

Thanks to our research that started in 1971, we know that all babies go through 10 leaps in their mental development in the first 20 months of their life. And we know exactly when that happens. With each leap, babies gain a new perceptive ability enabling them to develop new skills: doing new things. So, that first fussy phase when your baby is suddenly confronted with a leap is actually a sign of a positive development!
